Proxcelan™ (Cesium–131) Brachytherapy Workshop

Chicago Prostate Cancer Center January 24–25, 2008

Workshop Objectives:

  • Provide physicians with a comprehensive understanding of the differences between Cesium-131 and other prostate cancer isotopes
  • Discussion of preplanned, preloaded technique including live case demonstrations using Proxcelan seeds
  • Review latest research on the correlations between dosimetry and clinical outcomes
  • Provide training on reimbursement for Proxcelan seeds

Brian J. Moran, M.D. Radiation Oncology Dr. Brian J. Moran, board certified by the American Board of Radiology, received his MD from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine where he also completed his residency. Dr. Moran is currently Medical Director of Chicago Prostate Cancer Center and has performed over 8,000 prostate seed implants since 1994. His emphasis has been on quality of life issues and long-term outcomes for prostate cancer patients. Dr. Moran is a member of multiple specialty societies, a frequent lecturer at national meetings and has had numerous publications in medical journals and textbooks.

Mark Pankuch, Ph.D. Medical Physics Dr. Pankuch is Director of Medical Physics at Chicago Prostate Cancer Center and works at other Radiation Oncology Departments throughout the Chicagoland region. In 1992, Dr. Pankuch received his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Benedictine University and, in 2000, went on to complete his Ph.D. in Medical Physics from Rush University in Chicago.

Michelle Braccioforte, BS Research & Education Michelle is Director of Research & Education at Chicago Prostate Cancer Center and also coordinates educational activities for Prostate Cancer Foundation of Chicago. Michelle received her Bachelor’s degree in Community Health from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is currently pursuing her Masters of Public Health degree in Biostatistics.

Jennifer T. Cichon Billing and Reimbursement Jennifer Cichon is Chicago Prostate Cancer Center’s Administrative Director. She has over fourteen years of extensive experience with medical billing and collection systems, procedures and policy issues and is extremely knowledgeable in CPT and ICD-9 coding issues. Jennifer is also responsible for negotiating HMO and PPO contracts with insurance carriers and is a liaison with Medicare and other third party payers.
